FAQ

Questions About The UK:

As far as school goes, when do you guys start?
Children start nursery at the age of 3 (but this is not compulsory, children do not have to start school until the actual school age which is 5) and leave school at age 18 for university, if I got this wrong..oops.

What are A-levels?
A-levels are advanced qualifications in a specific subject like maths, it is taken by students aged 16-18 at a level above GCSE.

If cookies are called cakes in the UK, then what is cake called?
Where I live cookies aren't called cakes haha, in supermarkets some products are called cookies and some are called biscuits (Its weirdly confusing)
If I had to break it down, these are normally called cookies in supermarkets:

And these are called biscuits:

What Americans call "French fries", you call "chips". So, what we call "chips", what do you call?
What Americans call chips, we call crisps.

General

What do you want to study in university?
At the moment I want to study psychology but I'll probably change my mind, as I do every.single.second

How many languages do you speak?
I speak English and I am currently learning Spanish.
I also speak teen speak, which is totally a legitimate language(!)

Kittens Or Puppies and why?
I never know how to answer this question because I love both animals so much! But if I had to choose I'd probably choose puppies since they are a little more playful and I'm all for playful.

What's your family like?
They are loud and they are maniacs but I adore them.

Are you an only child or do you have siblings?
I am an only child and my friends envy me so much because I am spoiled rotten.

Are your parents together?
No they aren't together anymore but they are great friends, I'm actually spending Christmas with my dad this year, it'll be the first time I've seen him in 15 years.

If you could have one superpower for one day which superpower would it be? Well saying 'All of them' would be cheating so I'd probably say element control, like the avatars. I think it would be pretty cool to be able to control fire, wind , water etc. Mainly because I could use wind control to fly.

  1. If cookies are called cakes in the UK, then what is cake called? I'm sorry if this is rude, I'm not trying to be, but I am genuinely curious. And, I know that what Americans call "French fries", you call "chips". So, what we call "chips", what do you call? Obviously, I am very curious about food terminology. Sorry, but this is a question that my friends and I discuss A LOT. Now, I'll finally have a valid answer! =D

  2. Sorry, that first question got posted twice. I hate it when it does that! >:( Anyway, as far as school goes, when do you guys start? In America, we start school somewhere around the age of 5. This is kindergarten. From there, it progresses to first grade down to twelfth grade, which is when we are about 18. From there we go to college. Sometimes, parents put their 3 or 4-year-olds in preschool as a form of day care or actual "pre-school" (If you catch what I'm saying)! What's the system like in the UK? And what are A-levels? I read a few British books, I have LOTS of questions about British terminology and culture. Sorry if this gets annoying. Let me know if you have questions about the US. :)

  6. Which one: Kittens or puppies and why? (I love asking this question. You can tell a lot about a person by their answer). Also, what's you family like? Are you an only child or do you have siblings? Are your parents together? Sorry, not trying to be intrusive, I just like learning about different people's familial environment. Again, it tells a lot about a person.

    2. Thanks! Wow, so you probably don't remember your dad very well. You must be really excited and nervous to see him. I'm sure he'll be very proud of you, though. :) It's nice that him and your mom are friends, though. I've seen separations that didn't exactly end up that way. :(
